These are songs we recorded live, or live-to-air, or songs that otherwise don't appear on any of our albums. We do hope to keep adding to this page, even though finding some of this stuff means clearing out the garage (a job we've been trying to avoid). All the songs are in mp3 format.

Circle Jerk 2010
We did three covers: Hillcrest by The Weather, Anaconda Funky Limbo by the Romantic Andes, and Hippy in my Toolshed by The Crawfords.
A re-recording of an old song from the sessions for our new album, Grasshopper City.
This track is an outtake from How to Knit a Pony. The mix isn't totally polished, since we realised halfway through that it wasn't going to end up on the album - it just didn't fit with the rest of the songs - and so we stopped mixing it at this reasonably rough stage. The rhodes is played by Roz Case.

Another outtake from How to Knit a Pony. This one definitely didn't fit with the rest of the album! The song is based on Woody Allen's Take the Money and Run.

Corrugated Iron (alternate mix)
Andrew Dean and Geoff were mucking around and came up with this (slightly retarded) mix of Corrugated Iron. The squelchy sounding thing is a bass through a microsynth.

Honey
Live to air on the Generator, May 2004.
The Generator was what Contact fm eventually became after it was sold, rebranded, and rebranded again. We did a set on the NZ music show which was hosted by Kerry Cooper. Natalie is on the drums. The studio version of Honey is on An Awkward Silence.

Snow and Lightning
Live at Digger's, May 2004
This was the album release show for A Slight Hitch. The recording was made by Greg Locke. He just hung two mics up in front of the stage and went straight into a DAT or something like that. So the sound you hear is what is sounded like on the night. The other bands were Jamie Stone & Tiny Thunder featuring Anna Coddington on drums, and Voom, who were Danny, Buzz and Kelly at the time. Greg recorded the whole night so we've got some cool bootlegs of both those bands if anyone's interested...

Thinking About You
Live to air on Contact fm, May 2005
Paul had joined the band at this point and, as you can hear, we were all still getting to grips with each other (musically speaking). But it's still a pretty good take and a good illustration of how different this song was live from the recorded version.

Serpent in the Grass
Live to air on Radio 1, June 2009
We all crammed into the on-air studio to do this live to air. This is the broadcast feed so there's a bunch of compression on there. This song will be on our next album.
